Train Kills Local Farmer Near Tennessee River Bridge
Marshall Reed, 58, a well known farmer from Pleasant Hill six miles west of Decatur, was found dead beside the railroad tracks near the Tennessee river bridge last night. Coroner Lewis C. Brown said Reed suffered a crushed skull and severed right arm and was killed by a train. The body was found by night dispatcher W. S. Jamieson as he headed to work. Funeral services are set for 2 PM Sunday at Chestnut Grove on Danville road with Drinkard-Howell directing burial. Surviving are his widow, five sons, four daughters, two brothers, four sisters, and 28 grandchildren.
