Robert Mais and Legenza, heads of a Tri-State gang, were executed at Richmond Virginia Penitentiary for the March 9 mail truck murder of Ewell M. Huband. Mais, wounded, walked to the chair. Legenza, in a wheelchair due to broken legs, received two shocks and died two minutes after the switch.

A fire swept through the mountain home of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Amonett near Orchard Tennessee injuring two other children and causing the deaths of three youngsters.

The measure passed 75 to 0 and moves to the Senate, while a separate anti communism dispute sparked a 42 to 18 vote and a later reconsideration bid. The bill defines sedition to include writings and actions aimed at overthrowing the government.
Speake schoolhouse in Lawrence county suffered total loss from a Wednesday blaze around 1 45 p m. The estimated damage ranged from 10 000 to 12 000 with 6 500 paid by insurance. A child was reported burned on the hand though the fire was contained.

Charles W. Lindsey, 55, died Friday at home from a heart attack. Services begin at 1 p.m. at his residence led by Dr. Ira F. Hawkins, then a procession to Lebanon for further rites by Rev. J. H. Hill. Burial follows in Speake cemetery with Brown directing. Survived by widow Lazelle Lindsey and children Henry, William, and Mrs. L. P. Stover. Bearers include L. P. Stover, Davis Hodges, B. W., H. R., FP. M., and J. T. Speake.
Leola Segars five of Trinity Route 1 died Friday afternoon at Benevolente Hospital after pneumonia. Funeral held at Dan cey’s Chapel at 2 pm with Rev Howard Parker presiding. Interment followed. Survived by parents Rupert and Mrs Segars and two brothers Ferrell and Deward.

Mrs Caldonia Roberts, a longtime South Limestone resident, died Friday at noon at the home of her son Sam Roberts. Services conducted by Francis, pastor of the De Belle Mina Methodist church, were held this afternoon with interment in Harrus cemetery. She is survived by three sons Richart, Sam and Matt.
