Senior doctor king of the court an Alabama tennis veteran
Dr. Kirby, a Birmingham resident and lifelong tennis enthusiast, still plays doubles weekly with partners like Ray Albert and opponents such as Jim Pollock. A 1921 Albertville High School graduate, he quit football for ministry and also ran track at Alabama and Birmingham Southern. He jokes about his New Year’s Eve birth date as he turns a year older.
