Greenwich Village film depicts roaring twenties culture
The opening film program for Greenwich Village shows centers on the 1920s bohemian scene in New York. The Melting Pot era is captured through theater, music, and vivid personalities from Eugene ONeill to Edna St. Vincent Millay, with Carmen Miranda, Don Ameche, and William Bendix in the cast. A colorful Technicolor musical, it highlights Vivian Blaine as a rising star and recalls the Village’s famed parties and avant garde arts scene.
