Dormitory rule blocks Franklin despite prior admissions

The court heard that a new dormitory policy, effective December 1, aims to balance new and older students. Auburn officials said 22 graduate students had already been admitted for winter, all before the rule took effect, but Franklin and other white grads have since been denied. Attorney Fred Gray argued the policy is a race based device to prevent Franklin from living in the dorms. Franklin testified he applied and was denied. Judge Johnson, who previously ordered Franklin admitted to the graduate school, will decide the dormitory dispute.
