City Park Area to Be a Beauty Spot on County's Face
The county funds a $24 000 project to beautify a city park area with a rose garden playground equipment and terraced lawns. About 140 workers will rush the improvements by February 15 with plans by R J Pearse of Sheffield and features including a baseball diamond stone bleachers wading pool bath houses and a band stand. The centerpiece will be an elevated rose garden of 2000 roses and additional plantings of gladiolas crepe myrtle evergreens and trees from the national forest near Moulton.

Legend of Twins Proves Twin Ills Lay Factual Ground
The twins Billy and Butler Hine, 17 year old sons of Mr and Mrs Butler P A Hine of Decatur, visiting Athens for the holidays, suffered burns within two days of each other. Billy burned on the hip from a red hot stove and Butler burned on the fingers from a firecracker explosion. Both received care at Powers Hospital in Athens and were reported nearly well.

Fires Do Heavy Damage In Early Morning Hours
A fire destroyed three buildings on W Vine street and badly damaged another in Courtland. The old Sykes theatre building was gutted and a nearby store and two residences were heavily damaged. Firemen fought the flames until about six o clock. The Courtland fire department aided to prevent spread to other properties.
