An eighteen year old youth was shot to death and Attalla Police Chief D C Keith was seriously wounded during a midnight hold up at a cafe. Nick Calevas and L L Swan were involved. Swan described the shooting as he hid behind a stove and fired five of six shots. The unidentified youth had red hair and had no usable identification. his body lay at a Gadsden mortuary and Keith was hospitalized in serious but improving condition.
James Marion Herndon died this morning at 7 40 at his home in Moulton Heights a longtime resident and former merchant. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 00 at Moulton Heights Baptist Church with the cortege leaving at 1 45 for the city cemetery conducted by Rev M W Stedham and Rev J D Pickens. He is survived by his wife and three children.
