AP dispatch from Atlanta notes unsettled Alabama markets with ample to excess supply and weak demand. US Grade A prices range 22.75 to 25.00, average 23.55. Plant Grade C 22.65 to 25, weighted average 23.50. Heavy farm loads negotiated for Dec 23 to 28. Light type prevalent at TM farms in Georgia.
In Birmingham Alabama the AP reports eggs show higher price trends for large and medium sizes while small eggs stay cheaper. Retail prices are given per dozen in consumer grade cases with store delivery noted. Supplies remain ample and demand fairly good for the period.
Alabama trading from Birmingham farmers market shows prices paid to growers on market basis with delivery to nearby wholesalers. Collards sold 150 to 175 per dozen with light supply. Sweet potatoes varied by size with large 200 to 250 and occasional 275, small 100 to 150. No Tuesday or Wednesday reports.
Decatur quoted a mix of agricultural prices with cottonseed at 400 per ton and Grade A milk at 6.55 per hundred. Other items include pulpwood 15.25 per cord, No. 2 soybeans 2.33, No. 2 white shelled corn 1.55, No. 2 oats 0.60, milling wheat 1.30, and barley 0.90, reflecting mid century commodity pricing.
