U.S. Signals Viet Cong Contact Possible in Talks
AP dispatch reports that the United States hints Viet Cong representatives could join Vietnamese peace talks if the other side agrees. Secretary Rusk says Washington will discuss peace with no preconditions and may consider Viet Cong representation if proposed. The move follows a U Thant letter asking for renewed peace efforts.
