New Year Liquor Sales Order Withdrawn by ABC Board
The Alabama Alcohol Beverage Control Board rescinded a regulation allowing liquor sales from 12:01 to 2 AM on New Year’s Day. Administrator R. P. McRae announced the reversal at a special ABC meeting after protests from the Birmingham and Bessemer Protestant Ministers Association. Whisky sales remain prohibited from midnight to 8 AM under a 1948 regulation.

Peace Plan For Operating Rail Unions Is Bared

Electric Service Interrupted In Decatur For Two Hours
Power outages affected the Second Avenue business section and West Decatur south of Moulton Street when an oil switch burned at about 8 10 A.M.
