A large brown cat at the Davidson Coal and Feed Company store on Holly Street is credited with foiling an attempted robbery Saturday night. Owner H. L. Davidson and bookkeeper E. C. Stockton observed the animal’s alert behavior before Davidson found a man hiding on the warehouse office top. Davidson fired a shot gun, ending the intruder’s attempt. the animal had previously resided in the warehouse.
In a jovial visit Governor Alf M Landon met with President Roosevelt in the executive offices. Landon arrived in William Castle Jr. s car and posed with a Maine newspaper reporter. Roosevelt invited Landon to return for an off the record speech at the Gridiron Club dinner.
Three new motorcycles arrived at state highway patrol headquarters. Patrolmen Franklin Moore Ben Little Roy Bradford and P H Harris are named for assignments. Moore and Bradford stay local Little goes to Florence. Captain Van Gilbert notes double shifts eight on duty at night and 14 during day. A focus on catching drivers operating cars while intoxicated.

In Pensacola Florida Raymond Towery 24 of Atlanta was shot to death at a nightclub. Sheriff H E Gandy said off duty Motorcycle Policeman F P McDaniels was held in connection with the case and claimed the shooting was accidental. An inquest was set for this afternoon. Towery had come from Atlanta to visit his sister Mrs Dan Jordan.

Alabama shows partly cloudy skies with slight warmth in the west and possible frost in the south tonight.
