Valley Solons Join Jones on TVA Measure
Seventeen Southern congressmen join Rep. Bob Jones in backing a plan to offset TVA pollution control costs through credits against federal payments. TVA spends about 150 million annually on pollution control with interest payments up to 65 million. excess credits would reduce the 20 million annual appropriation and any remaining excess would cover outstanding funds. The measure parallels credits given to private industry for pollution control investments.
