Air Force strikes key North Viet Nam power plant
US Air Force F105 Thunderchiefs blasted the Uong Bi steam plant 14 miles northeast of Haiphong in the Red River delta, the first major strike on North Viet Nam's industrial heartland. The raid knocked out 15 percent of the area’s electric power. a pilot, Capt. Harry D. De Witt, was rescued after his plane was shot down, suffering a broken leg and facial injuries.

Gemini 6 and 7 astronauts achieve historic space rendezvous

Yates Becomes Qualified Voter Plans 1966 Run
