John Henry Terry, 40, a carpenter, remains at Decatur General Hospital after surgery to remove his remaining good eye following a freak accident last Friday. Relatives report pain in his head but expect recovery. discharge date unknown.

The Pentagon has not yet announced details.
U S Secretary of State Dulles told NATO Council that East West tensions are again on the main track after Soviet policy shifts. He warned of new cold war fronts in the Middle East and South Asia while urging vigilance and unity. Attending were Defense Secretary Wilson and Treasury Secretary Humphrey.

In a Bahamas bound voyage the motor vessel Monster owned by Thompson Construction Co sank three miles west of Great Isaac light. Eleven crewmen were rescued 75 miles northeast of Miami after their lifeboat was launched amid 8 to 10 foot seas. Captain William C. Alvers reported water flooding the engine room and began abandoning ship.
Area legislators prepare a range of local bills for introduction in Gov. Folsom's special session starting January 3. Solons advertise measures addressing municipal issues and county concerns likely to reach the desk of the governor and state officials.
The proposals include a Decatur school board option to buy building insurance from local agents instead of the state fund and a relief bill to recover 800 dollars in circuit clerk fees uncollected since 1947 due to a clerical error. Gov Folsom had vetoed both in the regular session.

Jesse B. Taylor 30 of Dalton Georgia is indicted for first degree murder in the slaying of Clais Hill 27 a former Birmingham waitress. Hill was killed after meeting Taylor in a Birmingham cafe November 7 and later found near Dalton with a note claiming the killing occurred in Bessemer Alabama.
In San Francisco a Superior Court jury awarded 145000 dollars to 16 year old Dale Stopp whose legs were severed by a Southern Pacific passenger train.
Athens College officials reported they have no exact grant amount yet from the Ford Foundation amid a $500 million distribution to 615 private colleges and hospitals. President Perry B. James expects a confirming letter outlining the grant size.
Total sales in Alabama state owned liquor stores reached 3,909,745 last month, up 15 percent from November a year earlier. Net profits rose 27 percent to 1,242,823, while store operations profits hit 1,026,453. Beer tax and license profits surged to 216,396, up 183 percent.
Lincoln police hunt for a car seen near a white house where Nancy Parker 22 wife of City Forester Darrell Parker was strangled. Mississippi legislators consider legal means to nullify the 1954 Supreme Court ruling on school segregation. Key figures Sen Eastland Rep Williams Judge Hardy argue Southern sovereignty requires nullification, while Attorney General-elect Coleman insists secession is the only path and calls nullification legal poppycock. About 75 non operating employees of the Louisville and Nashville and Southern railways in Decatur will receive a 16 12 cent wage rise retroactive to December 1 after a fact finding board appointed by President Eisenhower.
