Gadsden Alabama Dec 14 W C Gladden Etowah county farmer was sentenced to 10 years in the state penitentiary by Judge O A Steele after a jury convicted him of seduction in connection with the death of a woman on Oct 18 1926 following three days of testimony.
Mrs. Margaret Heldman 21 admits killing coal dealer Bernard E. Fearn in Canton Ohio. She and her husband were en route to sheriff when she shot herself. She had confessed to her husband and agreed to surrender, revealing a recent illicit affair.
Robert Percy Lofton was hanged in Magnolia Mississippi for the murder of J E Westbrook McComb police chief. The crime was committed on August 3 1926 after five delays four governor reprieves and one Supreme Court appeal. He escaped jail while awaiting the appeal and later traveled the United States and Europe before a Calgary Canada burglary sentence was found.

The Huntsville Daily Times reports a confrontation where Drake wounded Harris in the left arm and Harris fired back, knocking Drake down. Investigators, including Detective Hackworth and Marshal Willis, are on the case though local Madison county officers have not appeared. Harris’s wife remains jailed in Madison county.
Victor A. The Oneonta Ala Baptist pastor J L Moye and brother of A L Moye of Decatur returned from Chile twenty two months ago due to his wife’s health. Since then he has led 860 people into affiliation with the church and baptized 600. He also conducted revivals at other churches while serving as pastor.
Mrs. W. J. Phillips learns of the death of her niece Rowena Eubanks aged 5 who died December 11 in Spartanburg due to pneumonia. Funeral services were held on a date not specified in the fragment.
