Women urged to aim higher in business leadership
Mrs. Jayne Spain, vice chair of the U.S. Civil Service Commission, told a Tuscaloosa luncheon at the University of Alabama Continuing Education Center that women remain only 2 percent of management ranks. She urged women to train, communicate, and project self confidence to win top administrative roles and challenged old excuses about maternity and sick leave. She also emphasized strong performance by handicapped workers and noted discrimination against the disabled persists. The remarks were at the Nineteenth Annual Personnel Management and Industrial Relations Conference.
