Mayor Bergin faces potential federal attention as Attorney Anderson claims Bergin's construction company built one of the town's breweries. He states information exists linking other officials to the case.

Sterchi Bros. and Shumake announce J W Scott will serve as advertising manager for Sterchi and Shumake stores in Decatur and Huntsville. He assumes the post immediately.
A Lake Area case leads to arrests as authorities prepare murder charges. Officials seek corpus delicti through statements by John and Will Lewis, two men held as material witnesses in the case.
The House moves toward passage of the second of nine appropriation bills while Boulder Canyon dam provisions weigh on the Senate. Negotiations aim to patch differences in the bill which includes a 12 167 000 loan to Greece and a 62 year debt payment plan. The Senate also approves eight or ten uncontested measures including a resolution for a Columbia River project inquiry.
A Birmingham orchestra, the Alabama Ramblers, will perform at the Valley Country Club dinner dance this evening. Dinner starts at eight with dancing from 10:30 to one o'clock. many reservations have been made for the event.
State probes moonshine links as four of 48 witnesses testified in the W L Gladden murder trial in Gadsden Alabama. Prosecution details alleged threats by Gladden brothers against Mrs Eunic Gladden as Jim Davis testifies about the shooting incident. Jury includes seven farmers, two barbers, two steel workers and a merchant.
Yesterday afternoon a car driven by Mrs. T. C. Almon rolled over on the Bee Line highway just south of here. Occupants Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Almon, Mrs. Leroy McEntire, Mrs. James Stewart escaped injury after another vehicle driven by Harbin Hill grazed its fenders, nudging the Almon car into soft dirt.
From January 1 to November 1, 1928, 4 302 children were admitted to Birmingham area hospitals. The report records the year’s totals and reflects the health department’s ongoing monitoring of pediatric admissions.

Four people were injured when a truck overturned on a Muscle Shoals highway after hitting loose gravel. Driver lost control. Leroy Johnson suffered the most serious injuries though none were admitted to hospital. Eugene Norman was pinned but escaped with minor bruises. The incident occurred about nine o'clock as the truck, carrying lumber for Holland-Blow Stave Co of Decatur, was en route to Courtland.
The old flatbed press used by The Decatur Daily for over 16 years will be shipped from Battle Creek Michigan to Myerstown Pennsylvania for overhaul and continued service at the Myerstown Publishing Company.
The Decatur Junior Chamber of Commerce reveals changes in its upcoming year’s ballot. B. C. Shelton withdraws from the presidency race for 1929, J. G. Speake replaces Charles W. Malone as vice president nominee, and Malone withdraws. B. M. Bloodworth is unopposed for a ranking post. A list of board candidates includes A. Batley, Warren Gardner, Sidney Patterson, A. L. Malone, Joseph Woods, William Papenburg, Sam Stephenson, G. L. Yee, W. Draper, and C. W. Knight, with a vote set for Jan. 8.
James Keeley vice president of the Pullman company says the firm intends to acquire a site in the Birmingham district to erect a large car plant. This follows Pullman’s purchase of car plant equipment from the Tennessee Coal, Iron and Railroad company at Fairfield. Terms were not disclosed.
J M Maxwell owns a 100 acre property about one and a half miles south on the Bee Line highway to be subdivided for home sites and small acreage. Lummus Auction Company of Atlanta announces a sale on Tuesday December 18 at 10 am with purchasers naming the price.
The rehabilitation service of the state conducted a first clinic in Guntersville last week to correct optical defects among children. An officer reported 7e children were examined by eye specialists and recommendations issued.
Mrs. Bradley Bibb, a respected resident of Belle Mina in Limestone County, is in a Nashville hospital receiving medical treatment.
Mrs Williams and a man named Zimmerman were found dead with gunshot wounds at the Hotel McCormick where they had checked in the night before. A note and telegram with terms of endearment were found, with motive undetermined. Relatives said there was no sign of a halted marriage plan.
Mr and Mrs J W Clopton returned today from a motor tour of 1700 miles visiting Memphis Hot Springs Vicksburg Shreveport and Dallas where Mr Clopton attended the Southern Association of Ice Cream Manufacturers convention They noted Alabama stayed Democratic in the November election and visited Shreveport radio station.
Miss Marcella Co of the Southern Bell Telephone Company returned from a conference for the North District. The gathering focused on collecting clerks and tellers and was held at local offices.
London dispatch reports King George III’s physicians fighting to save him while unofficial word says recovery chances are slim. The Prince of Wales is expected to arrive soon, race against time as anxious crowds await further word on the king’s health.
