Shelton Released On Bond In Murder Case
Dwight Hyndle Shelton 30 of Moulton was freed on a 29000 bond after a Lawrence County grand jury indicted him for first degree murder in the shooting death of his aunt Annie Dearman. Circuit Judge Reneau Almon set the bond during a habeas corpus hearing based on defense claims citing a Tuscaloosa County ruling that capital offenses merit bond and noting no local death penalty history. The state did not oppose bond but offered no amount. Shelton is expected to stand trial in January in Lawrence County Circuit Court.
