Four Die in Head-On Collision Near Birmingham
Early today a head-on crash on the Birmingham Memphis Highway six miles west of Birmingham killed four people and left three seriously injured. Victims were Tom Barnes 22 East Thomas Ala W D Glenn 24 Birmingham J D Nichols 24 Birmingham and Angela Melton 17 Paros Ala. Bolton and Hanes of Birmingham were critically hurt and Stella Hillhouse sustained knee and head injuries. Officers described the collision as the most horrible they had seen with cars traveling about 50 to 55 mph. The driver of the Barnes Bolton car was Glenn and Nichols drove the other car. Investigators planned to question Hillhouse when allowed by hospitals. The crash occurred shortly before 1 am.
