Secretary Hull in Callao Peru on way to the Pan American conference said sessions will boost inter American solidarity and understanding. He stressed consolidating gains and safeguarding the American system as the eighth international conference opens in Lima with Peru guiding efforts.
Morgan County reports 500 memberships enrolled in the annual Red Cross drive. Waldermose and Falkville each provide 20. Danville 27. Somerville 1. Trinity 11. remaining from Decatur. Mrs. Frank Kirby, executive secretary, urged points to submit reports this week to close the drive.
The American Farm Bureau Federation indicated it will endorse continued AAA farm laws at its New Orleans convention. State federations largely back the program with minor administrative tweaks. In Burlington North Carolina two officers Sheriff M P Robertson and Policeman S E Vaughan and an escaped convict Roy Huffman were shot to death during a gun battle at a filling station. Deputy F B Bailiff outside fired through a window after seeing officers fall. Robertson had started as sheriff two days earlier.
Funeral services for John H. Sherrill 73 will be held this afternoon at two o'clock at Herring cemetery. He died Tuesday morning in a Tuscaloosa hospital. Interment follows at Herring cemetery. Surviving family includes his wife two daughters five sons and a son in Meridian Mississippi. The service will be at Peck funeral home with Rev. L A Powell officiating. Pallbearers named and flowers listed.

A man and his wife were each fined 8.60 in police court this morning. He faced a disorderly conduct charge after his wife was arrested for shoplifting at the W T Grant store. She admitted taking two slips and a man's toilet set at J C Penney's, with the husband allegedly causing a disturbance.

Approximately $20,000 in price adjustment checks were distributed to Morgan county farmers at five points this morning. About 400 checks averaged $50 each, with $154,000 already distributed. Remaining funds will arrive through January and after the first of the year payments shift to the soil conservation program exceeding $200,000.
Dorothy Whaley remains in extremely critical condition after a pistol wound to the chest at Benevolent Society hospital. She was shot Saturday at Cecil Walton's home, 906 Twelfth avenue east, and Walton then killed himself, according to the coroner.

Be Morgan precedes Morgan’s ouster as TVA chairman and his move to the Supreme Court. Black argues TVA headquarters location at Knoxville violates the law.
J A Krug of the Tennessee Valley Authority told a congressional committee that Wendell L Willkie s proposal to submit Commonwealth and Southern properties to the Securities and Exchange Commission for valuation is unworkable and would cause delays. He said arbitration would not solve TVA valley issues and that TVA favors negotiating the price for integrated systems rather than arbitration.
Senator Bankhead pressed the TVA investigation panel over the proposed 10 dam system and the location of TVA’s headquarters near Muscle Shoals. He argued a law requires the principal office to be in that area, amid chronic regional disputes and TVA payroll impact.
