W Skeggs Crawford of this city was commissioned a first lieutenant in the Postal Service of the United States Army and ordered to report in Washington on December 19. He is the son of Mr and Mrs W E Crawford and has worked in the postoffice department for 10 to 12 years, most recently as superintendent of malls at the Decatur post office.
Tuscaloosa Alabama reports that James H Newman dean of men at the University of Alabama has been granted a leave of absence to enter naval service as a lieutenant JG He will report to the naval training school in Washington on December 15 after graduating from Alabama in 1929.
