Test Run on Duplex Press Modernizes Daily Publication

The Daily staff and visiting engineers tested a Duplex Tubular Press on Sunday afternoon. H. S. Devine from Newark, O., and E. T. Sheppard led the operation, withDevine installing and Sheppard to head the press team. The test showed a large efficiency gain over the former flatbed system. Staff remained on duty overnight to ensure the plant would run on schedule Monday.

Chances for radio here describe new station in Decatur area

Plans discuss locating a radio broadcasting unit in the Lawrenceburg zone. The 50 watt station there is to be discontinued soon. Four Drowned in Ferry Accident Near Merrill Mississippi

Mrs. Eugene Daly age 22 and three relatives from Bay Minnette Alabama died when their closed car broke through ferry safety crossing the Pascagoula river at Merrill Mississippi. Only Houston Heaton, 18, survived after breaking the car window and escaping with ferryman Charles Reeves. Mrs Margaret C Shelton widow of William Randolph Shelton founder of The Decatur Daily thrusts the switch for the Duplex Turbular Press to publish the paper in its new home and with new equipment. Fatal Athens Florence highway crash leaves Carter dead

Weaver Carter, 23, died after a car struck him on the Athens Florence road in Coxey. The driver fled, leaving Carter with a basal skull fracture and no consciousness. he died Sunday evening around seven.

Funeral Service For Lawson White

Funeral services for Lawson White aged 53 were held Friday at the cemetery. He died after a three week illness at his residence in Albany. Rev Lesser of Trinity officiated. Committee Meets to Discuss Kiwanis Trophy Plan

Six Negroes Trapped Under Car After Wreck

Six African American men were pinned beneath a wrecked vehicle after a collision. Firefighters and bystanders worked to lift the car and free the occupants as emergency crews arrived.
