Area CP Drive Nets $10,000 in four counties

United Cerebral Palsy drive across Morgan Limestone Law rence and Cullman counties raised $9,234 with a goal of $10,000. J O Sims said contributions will exceed the target as volunteers and local chairmen partnered to aid cerebral palsy research and living improvements for the handicapped. Morgan led with $5,284 followed by Limestone $1,650 Cullman $1,700 and Lawrence $600.

Egg prices rise as large and medium advance in Birmingham

In Birmingham Alabama eggs showed price increases for large and medium sizes while small eggs were unchanged to lower. Supplies were ample for what sellers described as a fair demand with consumer grade eggs priced per dozen including cases and store delivery. Large eggs listed at 48 cents, medium at 42 to 45 cents, mostly 42 to 44, small at unspecified.

Birmingham Farmers Market Faces Ample Sweet Potatoes Demand

AP reports Birmingham market Monday morning offered ample sweet potatoes with other items in light supply. Prices ranged from 3.00 to 3.50 per bushel for sweet potatoes and 1.50 to 2.00 per hundredweight for watermelons. Collards sold 1.75 to 2.00 per dozen. tomatoes offered in 8 quart baskets at 1.00 to 1.50 and 20 cartons at 2.50 to 3.00. Cotton futures were mostly unchanged with a slight decline in nearby contracts.
