The Morgan County Board of Education met at the courthouse Friday and agreed to delay opening county high schools until October 2 and elementary schools until October 30 due to statewide uncertainty. They approved consolidating Priceville and Rural Grove schools, moved bus routes from Flint to Morgan County High, and Hartsel le for elementary students. They authorized vocational funds, allocated state and federal funds, awarded a furnace contract for Falkville High, and began rebuilding Morgan County Training School for Negro students at Hartsville after the March 1932 fire.

Early Returns From Texas Favor Repeal Of Beer Law
Unofficial results from scattered city precincts in Texas show margins from three to one up to twenty to one in favor of repeal and beer legalization. San Antonio precinct reported 45 for repeal and two against. Highland Park Dallas counted 20 to 1 in favor. Tabulation at noon showed repeal leads with 1,127 for and 173 against.

Accidental Shot Wounds Austinville Resident
W. L. Spiegel, a well known Austinville resident, was wounded at his home by a discharged 32 caliber revolver. A neighbor rushed him to Benevolent hospital where doctors reported the bullet passed through the chest, missing the lungs, with a good chance of recovery if no complications arise.
