Owen Gets Life Term In Grady Terry Slaying
Ed Mack Owen, 37, was sentenced to life in prison for the first degree murder of Grady Bert Terry, 20. The Lawrence County jury deliberated about three hours and forty five minutes before finding Owen guilty, and his wife cried as the sentence was read. A notice of appeal was filed by attorney Russell Lynne, and he asked for suspension of the sentence. The four day trial featured testimony that Owen beat Terry then fired a fatal shot, while the defense argued the shooting was accidental during a disturbance at the Owen cafe grocery.
