Farm price plans in congress explore Gore Aiken Anderson Brannan
Washington Aug 25 four farm price plans are under discussion in congress named after Gore Aiken Anderson and Brannan. They build on the 1933 38 and 41 acts to guarantee farmers income by supporting prices for six basic crops with parity targets and varying guarantees for other crops. The Aiken plan sets 60 to 90 percent parity on six crops, while Gore Anderson and Brannan propose different mixes. Senate action is pending and the Gore plan is before the House as a substitute for the Aiken plan with the Anderson plan offered as a compromise.
