Careful care for sterling care for sterling
Home economists urge daily care for sterling to preserve its satiny luster and patina. The silver rule advises gentle washing in warm soapy water, soaking dried food, rinsing well, and drying with a soft cloth while avoiding scratches from knives and utensils. If food discolors your sterling, seek extra guidance.
Silverware care and tarnish prevention tips
Clean the pieces at once with a reputable silver polish. Rub briskly lengthwise with a soft cloth dipped in polish, then wash in warm soapy water, rinse, and dry. Wrap sterling flatware in specially treated tarnish cases in a compartment lined to protect from wood or rubber contact.
