Mercy death investigated in Allentown hospital
In Allentown Pennsylvania on August 16 a 41 year old former nurse Margaret Gowan was questioned in the mercy killing of her sister Louella Saeger at the Allentown State Mental Hospital. Gowan reportedly said she felt happier and had put her sister out of her misery. She was held at Lehigh county jail while investigators review charges. the slain woman’s husband sobbed as relatives recalled the nurse’s career with Westinghouse and Schwab. Saeger had a long illness and had been admitted in 1937 for paranoia and age related distress.
