Buck herd heifers milk and pasture strategy described
The text outlines cattle management focusing on dairy heifers. It notes that cows bred for milk may grow slowly if forced by short rest after first lactation, suggesting delaying freshening by about six months. Buck herd heifers receive ample grain until a certain age, then grain is reduced and they graze on pasture until freshening, with winter hay silage and fodder provided.
