Governor withdraws tourism consolidation bill after talks
Gov George Wallace pulled administration support from a bill by Sen Bob Harris to merge the Alabama Department of Publicity and Information into the Alabama Development Office. Wallace said the measure went beyond his intent after a meeting with about 15 tourism leaders led by Warren Moseley of the Alabama Travel Council. The bill remains dormant unless reintroduced by other senators as the Legislature nears adjournment.
