Lonnie Cooper a 45 year old WPA worker is jailed in the death of Beatrice Coles 38 wife of a legless fisherman. Her body was found in the Tennessee river ten miles south of Huntsville after she left her husband’s houseboat. Coroner Laughlin says she likely died before being thrown into the river and notes possible assault scratches but doubts they indicate an assault. In Philadelphia a 3 1 2 pound baby girl survived only after her mother Mary Boccassini died on her deathbed from tuberculosis.
