Two Held in Death of Miss Carrie Mooring
In Eufaula Alabama two suspects are jailed in connection with the December 1928 death of Miss Carrie Mooring. Emmett Calhoun, her brother in law, is held at Abbeville and John Williams, a Black man, is detained in Hartford Connecticut. The body was found along a highway near Fort Gaines, after a dragging and violent injuries. Sheriff L E Gibbons plans to depart for Hartford to secure the suspect for trial.

Webb a 33 year old traveling agent for a chemical company whose body was found by a motorist in bushes beside a highway six miles from Gulfport. He was last seen Wednesday leaving his home for Mobile and authorities suspect robbery as the motive with Webb killed and left by the roadside.
