Washington April 29. Chairman Ashurst of the senate judiciary committee said there are fifty votes in the senate for the Roosevelt court bill and it would pass this year or next. He remained optimistic despite three uncommitted senators opposing the plan. Opponents claimed the whip hand in committee and in the senate, while Norris proposed a two thirds requirement to overturn acts of Congress.
