Roving armed bands attacked, firing on an automobile and burning a railroad trestle in Alabama coal fields. Miners refused to return as National Guard patrols were recalled. NRA coal administrator Wayne Ellis reports, but miners remain away from the shaft amid rising tensions.

In St Paul on April 27 posses searching for Baby Face Nelson and Dillinger faced a diversion led by Nelson to stall pursuit. Despite the distraction the primary objective remained capturing Dillinger dead or alive as armed teams scoured the area.
A Thursday night blaze at East Moulton street started in broom straw stock and spread through the large building. Fire departments confined the heat to the broom company premises with about half the stock, equipment, and machines damaged while adjacent buildings remained unharmed.

Twenty cemeteries with 6000 graves will be relocated. 5500 CCC workers clear sites for reservoirs as 200 Norris cottages are built at 1300 dollars each and leased at 14 a month.
Birmingham April 27 AP The man once sentenced to 180 days hard labor and fined 100 for making a living torch to scare a stray fox terrier puppy was fined one dollar after a sealed verdict. Charles L. Martin Jr. was convicted in record court proceedings.
W. H. Lee 60, a longtime L. & N. railroad engineer, was fatally injured when he allegedly stumbled or attempted to cross near the southbound track and was dragged under a freight car in the upper Louisville and Nashville yards. Funeral services were held that afternoon with ministers and relatives listed.
SHREVEPORT La April 27 The charge of hoarding 2000 in gold against Mrs Mary Blanchard will be dropped by the government U S district attorney said The gold was turned over March 31 through an attorney On April 3 the husband issued a public statement taking blame and challenging prosecution The state of the case was not fully disclosed by the district attorney
Funeral rites for Dr Frank Emens 64 were to be held at 3 PM at Trinity Church for eye illness pneumonia burial at City cemetery with Brown directing. He leaves widow two daughters Sara Pearl Emens and Mrs John Sewell a son Dr Redding Emens and active pallbearers listed. Honorary pallbearers include Morgan County medical society and county board of education members. Emens moved to Morgan County at age 13 and remained active in community life as a Methodist Church member and civic participant.
Lester Lang 24, of Cave Springs near Priceville, is safely back home after a period away. The report confirms his return and hometown residence.
Hundreds of officers ranchers and volunteers joined a statewide search after six year old June Robles was abducted near her home. Kidnappers demand ransom while the father and grandfather urged swift payment to secure the girl's safe return. The effort intensified as a second note lowered the ransom and warned about delays. The case prompted officials to halt the search briefly to reassess.
