A Montgomery man identified as D S Ledyard died from fractures after a jail arrest for intoxication and subsequent hospitalization. Relatives dispute claims of drinking and say the inmate had prior crippling injuries. Police and county officers investigate the death as family and officials seek answers.

A second case involves Albert N Hutchins and Nila, separated after a whirlwind City of Ele romance and Gandhi references, ending in relocation and departure from the union.
President Roosevelt plans a discussion with the Secretary on policy regarding the Eastern view matter as diplomatic talks resume. Washington sources indicate the talks will focus on security and regional cooperation amid mounting tensions.

Washington April 25 AP John J Wilson district prosecutor told a DC jury that Bishop James Cannon Jr and Ada L Burroughs conspired to violate the federal corrupt practices act. Wilson opened the case accusing Cannon of spending anti-Smith campaign funds for personal use.
Absentee ballot requests rose to 614 by noon with 571 received by 1 PM and 565 registered late afternoon in Morgan County. Sheriff’s office staff will stay open until midnight to let voters obtain ballots, despite the deadline. Judge Malone’s push and a flood of candidates drew state and local interest across hills and valleys.
Probate Judge Jackson reports Congress man A H Carmichael obtained a TVA order delaying Tuesday’s work start until after polls open. The delay allows all employees to cast ballots, with many already voting absentee. those who have not yet voted will have a chance before starting work.
Mr. Brown suffered a fractured clavicle and pelvis when the car he rode in collided with a taxicab. T. S. Sparskman of Decatur, a cab passenger, received severe facial cuts but has recovered.
