Police Chief Killed In Gambling Raid At Graysville
April 21 7 An early morning gambling raid left Graysville police chief S R Howton 61 dead from a back of the head wound. Constable Sam Lynn was wounded and in critical condition in Birmingham hospital. Suspect Andrew Lee Smith 30 a coal miner was arrested after a manhunt near Bessemer and jailed in Birmingham.
