E Edgerton Nashville woolen textile manufacturer and president of the Southern states industrial council told the senate finance committee that a survey of Southern business men shows most favor extending the NRA but seek greater Southern voice in program operation and administration.
Washington reports Representative Bacharach of New Jersey introduced a bill to impose a fifty percent excise tax on all textile imports made wholly or partly of cotton. He argues the measure would provide prompt relief to the cotton textile industry by blocking imports from Japan.

Four year old Richard Perrot remains missing in Chicago after a week with searchers shifting to county forest preserves. Police report a sighting of a child resembling Richard with a shabby dressed man, while his father Max Perrot a tool plant foreman believes the boy was kidnapped for ransom.
The Alabama Public Service Commission scheduled a rural electrification conference for April 17. Letters were sent to private and municipal utilities asking for representatives. Gov. Rep. John C. Coleman of Marshall county announced a five percent general sales tax bill to be introduced after the legislature reconvenes on April 30. The plan would repeal all ad valorem taxes on real estate and would tax most consumer purchases including amusements and soft drinks, except cigarettes and gasoline.

Of 130 responses 66 percent object to women faculty smoking 61 percent object to attending public dances 59 percent object to dating on school nights 94 percent object to women teachers dating high school boys 95 percent object to men teachers dating high school girls 65 percent expect teachers to attend church regularly.

France and Britain approve a plan to refrain from pressing a German condemnation in the Geneva council session. An apparent attempt to disrupt the light and power service of the greater Cleveland area by dynamiting a huge steel tower carrying 132 000 volt transmission lines toppled the tower near Ridgeville Lorain in Lorain County last night but failed to halt service because of automatic safety devices.

She named Mrs. Jane Sholtz Emerson as corespondent, alleging an improper relationship with Sewell. Sewell plans to contest, arguing Sewell knew of the affair. evidence from a prior Emerson divorce case involved hotel room allegations.
The Associated press reports a one hour student strike called by a national peace committee. Police feared clashes in several cities with anti war demonstrators. Boston prepared for possible disturbances while high school cadets to drill. About 150000 students were expected to join at 11 am, with Boston restricting strike literature after arrests at Harvard and Theological Seminary.
Robert Fechner after a Roosevelt conference outlined plans for 1 500 new CCC camps in 48 states and 300 000 recruits within two months. The War Department would run camps under a $4 billion work relief program. Early approval is anticipated with the CCC absorbing some college graduates this June unable to find work.
In Los Angeles a divorce suit accuses actress Mary Astor of cruelty and humiliation by her husband S. Valentine. The couple wed June 29 1931 in Yuma and separated March 25 1935. They agreed to share custody of their two year old daughter Marilyn Thorpe.
In New York on April 12, Adolph Ochs publisher of the New York Times received simple last rites before about 3,000 attendees. The services at Temple Emanuel on Fifth Avenue seated 2,500 with others in balconies and in the front street under a misty rain. The casket rested before the altar in the nave, covered with wreaths and floral tributes.
Richard Atkinson a 50 year old planter from DeSoto south of Meridian was killed when dragged two miles along a highway and through fields and barbed wire fences by a runaway mule. The tragedy occurred today and authorities are investigating the incident along the Meridian area.
