James Garfield Hayes pleaded guilty to second degree murder in Lawrence County Circuit Court and received a 10 year prison sentence. The session also settled thirteen of fifty eight cases as Judge Hundley presided with Ammunition hearings and probation actions set for May 8. In the Birmingham incident a car careened into a crowd, critically injuring Tolbert Noblett and injuring three others.
