Hall entered the Army in November 1952 and is assigned to the 188th Medical Battalion. William J. Howard, gunner's mate seaman USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Avery B. Howard of Vine mont 1, recently returned to Norfolk Va from the Caribbean aboard the heavy cruiser USS Des Moines which took part in Operation Springboard. G. E. Bowden Jr. of Wolverine public relations is in Biloxi Miss attending the Gulf States Industrial Conference. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nixon of South Bend Ind are parents of Deborah Sue Nixon born March 26. Mr. Nixon is a former Decatur resident. See Diary on Page 2.

A well preserved woman’s body was found in a five foot iron coffin unearthed during road widening near Athens. Foreman Herbert Pugh’s grader exposed the cast iron box and workmen excavated the iron enclosure to reveal the preserved remains sighted through a small glass window.

Plane Explodes Killing Turkish Officials Aboard
