In Birmingham a federal judge threw out a civil rights suit by Carl L. Baldwin and his wife Alexinia over their December arrest for sitting in a white waiting room. The judge ruled the Alabama segregation clause does not apply to travelers of any race and ordered costs against the Baldwins. In Washington the Supreme Court refused to review FPC licensing of three dams in Hells Canyon. Senator McClellan leveled perjury accusations against two NAACP witnesses without naming them.
Shots blasted the residence of Police Commissioner Cecil Weatherbee after an officer ended his watch at the Weatherbee home. Alan Gadsden reports that three shotgun blasts hit the Findley home around 3 30 a.m. while Pa Joseph L. Findley and his family were away.
Sources in Tehran say Prime Minister Hussein Ala will resign after a desert bandit massacre of three Americans. A new premier to be proposed is Dr Menucheher Eghbal to tighten control amid banditry and tribal defiance as West German Chancellor Adenauer visits. The U.S. suspends Point Four program in southeast Iran.
Senate probes into Teamsters Union leaders sparks calls from Republicans and Democrats, Labor Secretary Mitchell, and Americans for Democratic Action for stronger protections of workers. The Associated Press reports Alabama traffic accidents over the weekend claimed ten lives, with eight fatalities in two-vehicle crashes. Other deaths span Jefferson, Decatur, Crenshaw and Baldwin counties plus a Florida wreck nearby, with speeds and conditions noted.

Karachi reports Pakistan agrees to permit United States military aid if an armed attack by international communism occurs. The pledge was announced in a joint communique after Eisenhower Doctrine outreach by Ambassador James P. Richards during a three day visit in the Middle East.
Leon Marcus 61 former board chairman of Southmoor Bank and Trust Co. was seized dragged into an auto after leaving a friend's home in Chicago. Police say Marcus had 8000 in cash and 3804.25 in his pockets including 2200 in travelers checks. His body was found with a 45 caliber head wound. motive not robbery according to Acting Chief William J. Tuohy. Marcus, his brother Hyman and son in law Martin Rosene faced federal indictments for misapplication of bank funds and false entries tied to fraud at the bank linked to Edward Hintz Hodge. The case involves theft of millions in state funds and indictments against state officials.
Senator Byrd reported the federal payroll reached a record 989.549 million dollars for regular civilian workers in January with foreign nationals adding 16.7 million. For the first seven months of fiscal 1957 the monthly average payroll was 946 million dollars, part of a push to cut the 71.8 billion dollar Eisenhower budget by trimming federal employment.
River stage at Keller Memorial Bridge this morning stood at 18.75 feet, up 3 feet in about 2 hours. Readings from sea level showed 553.05 feet and the day reached 66 degrees with a low of 56 overnight.
Decatur's second traffic fatality occurred when a two car crash at Somerville Road and 11th Street SE left Mrs. George W. Smith dead at 6 50 PM. Six others were injured including her husband and a 13 month old grandson. The Smiths and Mrs Griffin were in a 1957 Nash. the Johnsons in a 1952 Buick. Police investigated with no charges filed.
Picket lines surrounded B F Goodrich Co rubber plants as negotiations failed on a new contract. About 14 000 United Rubber workers across nine plants including Akron Marion Ohio Cadillac Michigan Tuscaloosa Alabama Miami Oklahoma Oaks Pennsylvania Riverside New Jersey Clarksville Tennessee and Los Angeles are affected.
