Local residents and visitors gather listings show numerous Thanksgiving trips with relatives in Gainesville Atlanta Conyers Yellow Creek and near towns. Mrs Mae Elliott from Atlanta visits Dawsonville while several families host guests and plan events at schools and churches.
Mr and Mrs W J Willis of Athens Ga announce the marriage of their daughter Mrs Mary E Robinson to Mr Crafton K Brooks of Cumming Ga The ceremony took place Oct 18 1936 in Jasper Ga Judge Olin Cagle presiding Mrs Brooks teaches at Dawsonville High School and is praised for years of outstanding work and friendships formed in Dawsonville as the couple begins a happy prosperous life
North Georgia notes the marriage of Mrs Coral Nichols and Ralph Davis of Terra Haute Indiana on Saturday November 21 in Valhalla South Carolina. The couple returned to Dahlonega where Davis works in the restaurant business and they reside at the Tate hotel.
A fire last Monday destroyed the Landrum schoolhouse. Sparks from the stove flue started the blaze. Desks and books were lost but some roofing and roofing were saved, along with portions of the building.
Congressman Whelchel is in Washington this week in the interest of Ninth District constituents. He seeks benefits and measures advantageous to the people he serves.

A Jasper exhibitor showed an ear of corn with a hand like shape, resembling a right hand with five fingers and a palm. The Pickens County Progress notes other local social visits and notices across Pickens County including guests, travels, and sales listings.
Rev E H Blackburn was returned by the North Georgia Conference to the Dawsonville Methodist charge for another year at the Atlanta conference last week. The report notes his abilities and that friends are glad to have him continue. Also mentioned is an F F A oyster supper during Thanksgiving with about twenty members and dates attending and plans to install gym lights for night basketball. Roy Bailey reporter.
