Lumpkin Superior Court opened in Dahlonega. Residents and visitors, including Mrs. Joe Bearden and relatives, Miss Sadye Downs, Col. B. R. Taylor, and Miss Helen Gilleland, are mentioned with social visits and small repairs. The note covers church events, school activities, subscriptions, and local trips to Rock City and Atlanta, plus upcoming Dawsonville sing and commencement plans.
Road crews completed sealing the last two miles to Dawsonville and finished six miles of base from Dawsonville to the Amicalola river. They will reseal damaged sections between Dalton and Cartersville and Jasper and Ellijay, then return to pave the six miles of Route 53 if weather stays favorable. Keiley Burt, a Dawsonville student, was killed when struck by a car driven by Tom Fouts of Atlanta, with funeral services held at Shoal Creek Baptist Church.
The State Democratic Presidential Preferential Primary for Georgia is scheduled for June 3. The entrance fee for all candidates is fixed at $10,000. Entries close May 16, and the state committee meets June 17 to certify returns and name delegates for the national convention in Philadelphia.
