War Anniversary Observed in Cardeenane District
On the fourth anniversary of the declaration of war citizens in Cardeenane district gathered in Cardeenane town hall. The mayor presided as Rev A J Henderson Rev A Rows and Rev Those Bray spoke, a resolution pledged victory and continued effort, and the Red Cross collection raised four dollars. The day featured flags in town buildings a combined choir and intercessory service ending with the national anthem and benediction.

New Stock Yards For Davidson Construction Near Depot
W F Richardeos, foreman of a CNEE Bridge and Building crew, nears completion of a modern stock yard north of the depot west of the tracks on the old yards site. The two pens measure 40 by 32 feet each with feeders, separate troughs for hogs and cattle, a 235 foot shed, two loading derricks, and a 28 foot chute to a 20 foot loading platform. Plans are by railway architects and the yards should be finished this week.
Tax Rate Fixed At 42 1 2 Mills In Town Council Meeting
Town council minutes from August 1 note a tax rate of 42 1 2 mills. Present are Mayor Hutcheon and Councillors Whitelock Cawsey Butler and Arnold. Discussions cover coal shipments from Windatt Co and delays awaiting small coal, tax arrears involving Pasison and Winkjer, Constable Cole wage increase to 75 from August 1, possible purchase of six extinguishers for the fire hall, and fourteen more at 1740 each financed by the town at 3354 oo each.

Annual Fair a Financial Success Despite Weather
A fraught start to the annual fair gave way to strong turnout as afternoon sunshine returns. Six teams entered the baseball tournament Craik beat Davidson 4 to 3 in a tight opener Maple Valley edged Singson Kenaston defeated Elbow in a second draw Maple Valley had five byes and Craik and Kenaston reached a late tie before Kenaston won in extra innings near darkness. Arm River Council Holds Regular Meeting in August
