Makinak Memorial Service Brings Districts Together
The village of Makinak and surrounding districts gathered for a Great War memorial unveiling. A large bronze shield bore the names of fallen soldiers as events featured hymns prayers and remarks by Dauphin veterans, with the 27th battalion flag presented for display with the shield.

Odd Fellows Observe 101st Anniversary at Methodist Church
The local lodge of the Odd Fellows along with the Rebekahs attended a Sunday evening service at the Methodist church for the one hundred and first anniversary. Dan Haw preached the sermon with Craig acting as marshal. The speaker discussed two types of religion and stressed universal humanitarianism through the Good Samaritan. The choir performed an anthem and Mrs Collinson sang The Ninety and Nine.

Recital by Miss Tucker and Mrs Hawkins at Presbyterian Church
A recital by the pupils of Miss Pearl M. Tucker and Mrs. Robert Hawkins will be held in the Presbyterian church on Tuesday May 18 with admission 50 cents. Fatal Shooting Accident In Pine River
Two boys aged 17 and 16, Joe Caruk and Mike Polowij, rode a rail jigger near Pine River when Polowij’s revolver discharged accidentally. Caruk was shot in the back and died instantly. Coroner Gilbert held an inquest on Monday, returning a verdict of death by accidental shooting. Dauphin officials attended the inquest.

Death of Wmn J Leech Former Railway Employee
Wmn J Leech died suddenly on Monday morning after a period of poor health. He worked for the railway for years and served as an officer of Riding Mountain lodge. Survived by a widow, daughter and son, his funeral was held Wednesday at St Pauls church with Vermillion lodge A F and A M members attending. Interment followed at Riverside cemetery with pallbearers E Osborne C Johnson J Biles J Miles W Beil and W Bannatyn.

Meeting Lake Beach Property Holders Annual Meeting
The Lake Dauphin property holders held their annual meeting with T. T. Malcolm chairing. The overseer Stelck resigned. J. Wait C. W. McLachlin and W. S. Marsh elected overseers. Marsh named secretary-treasurer. They discussed cottage back reading, culvert changes at eight mile and nine covers, and a petition to the Minister of the Interior for a dam on the Messy river to raise the lake level.

Ladies Aid elect officers at Methodist church annual meeting
