Dauphin Agricultural Society Sets District Fair Dates

Directors meeting at the Armoury, Dauphin discussed district fair plans with a regional fair option. Grants from provincial and dominion governments were analyzed, with a unanimous decision to hold a district fair and form committees to revise the prize list and district boundaries. Invitations to exhibit mink and fish, plus a platform attraction offer, were approved. condolences were offered to Archie Walker.

Dauphin Drama Festival Sets Two Sessions Adjudicated by Mr Horne

Friday May Sth marks the Dauphin Drama Festival with two sessions to rate six groups including Roblin Anglican Women’s Auxiliary and Winnipegosis Dramatic Society. Mr D K Horne of Winnipeg acts as festival adjudicator with 25 cent admissions for each session and a June finals chance in Winnipeg.

The Importance of Being Earnest at Dauphin Little Theatre

Wilde’s comedy was staged by the Dauphin Little Theatre to a full house Friday. Dr. Alexander McKee led as Earnest and Miss Grace Norton, Alma Farenhurst, Bernice Gorby, and Robert Malcolm delivered polished performances showcasing wit and social satire.

Northern Manitoba Calf Show and Sale Set in June

A central committee meeting finalized plans for the Show and Sale to be held in the skating rink on Saturday June 16. About 350 to 400 calves will be exhibited and offered for sale. The district ranges from Swan River and Roblin to Me Creary with Dominion live stock promoter Theo Bodnar, T P Devlin of the Canadian National Railways department, and John Conner coordinating tagging and culling. An One Cent Sale occurs this week at Rexall Drug Store run by Wilfred Robson Ltd.

Stelck’s Lid Plans Modern Store Building on Main

Architect’s plans delivered to Stelck’s Ltd for a new Main Street building just south of the Haare store. A three‑storey complex will include a women’s restroom and a residential suite with three tenancies. Walter Leech, son of local residents, will open a modern variety store once complete, with two smaller shops rented as a barber and a shoe store.

Home Craft Courses Resume in Fall

The Dauphin Local Council of Women reports spring sewing classes will close this week and resume in the fall. Plans for the autumn courses will be formed over the summer, with a canning demonstration slated for Dauphin in June. details to be announced in the Herald.

HUME Named Town Assessor at 1933 Salary

A special council meeting approved James Hume as town assessor for 1933 at 300 dollars. The council and school board agreed to continue the public health nurse service with the town and board sharing seven hundred ninety dollars toward the nurse's salary, under council and board supervision.
