Dauphin Town Moves to Abolish Ward System

Town council approves Resolution 10 to abolish the ward system and elect eight councillors at large. The plan includes school trustees at large for the same term, with four elected in alternate years, and a committee to prepare the necessary act for submission to the Legislative Assembly.

Mountain Road 10 Closure For Repairs

Mountain Road 10 across the mountain via Lake Audy is closed for two weeks to allow the grade to dry out and repairs to be made. Heavily impacts traffic in Strathclair and surrounding areas. Local officials urge motorists to seek alternate routes and expect ongoing closures until work completes.

Return of Normalites Sparks End of Term Prep

On Monday April 24 most students resumed classes and shared teaching experiences in lively morning discussions. By Tuesday night the last students should return for the final term as Mr Parker, the history teacher, rejoins the group. The Normalites aim to organize sports so they can again show last spring’s form.

Mrs Archie Parker of Valley River Dies

The Valley River district mourns the death of Mrs Archie Parker on April 22 after a long asthma condition. Born in Wigtonshire Scotland she was nearly 47 and came to Canada in 1913. Survived by husband three children and two stepsons. funeral held April 24 at the United Church with Interment at Riverside Cemetery.

Dauphin Clean-Up Week Ordered May First to Fifteenth

The town of Dauphin announces a two week clean up from May 1 to May 15 for all residents occupants and property owners. Each person is responsible for cleaning their lot and removing ashes rubbish and manure. After May 15 a health officer will inspect and noncompliers may be prosecuted. Dauphin Parks Board Reelects Gemmel as Chairman for 1933

The Dauphin Parks Board met in the town hall for its first season session. H W R Gemmel was reelected chairman and H A Green secretary for 1933. A committee was formed to seek a small appropriation from the town council to maintain the park and tourist camp. The board may assume supervision of certain town boulevards. Horace Atkin was approved as caretaker. The 1933 personnel includes Mayor A Begnett and councillors S Solomon J Puchalski A H F Stelck W J Henderson Geo A Jackson and Wm Murray.
