Opening of Spring Assizes in Dauphin District
The Dauphin Judicial District opened its spring assizes with Judge Prendergast. Six criminal and two civil cases are listed. The grand jury has returned true bills in four cases. Albert Campbell’s trial for shop breaking and theft proceeds with Crown Prosecutor F. E. Simpson and counsel C. A. Rogers.

Local Court Harsh on Distilleries Charge
Mikeen faced P. M. Hawkins on Tuesday charged with possessing a wash suitable for making spirits. The information was filed by J. Ball of the Inland Revenue Dept. Nahaluk was found guilty, fined 200 dollars plus costs. J. N. McFadden prosecuted and Alex Ka’z defended.

Presbyterian Church Anniversary Celebration
The Presbyterian church marks its anniversary with services Sunday the 28th and Monday the 20th. Rev John Mackay D D of Manitoba college will preach Sunday with special choir music. Monday features a short address by Mackay and a musical program. The ceremony of burning the torte will cap the event.

The Order of Railway Conductors hosted its first annual St Patrick Night Ball on March 17 in Dauphin. The event featured ornate decorations, a forest scene stage with owls, a glow lit ballroom, a McMurray orchestra performance, midnight supper, and thanks from the O R C to the community.

Speakers McCaul Bowman G King and Murray emphasized the association’s work and the poultry industry’s national importance.
