Town council meets Thursday April 1 at town hall. Fox Fun Company performs Thursday. McMurray recital Friday April 1. Ladies Auxiliary Tulip Tea at Mr Skinner’s Saturday April 3.
The E. F. C. announces officers with H B Whitmore as president and Rett Hawkins as vice president Albert Knight as secretary treasurer E Turland. The selection committee includes Messia J Miles J Weaver J Haddrell W Knight J Whitmore C H Turland and Barrett.
The assizes opened last week and continue through the week with cases including King of Bracher incest postponed due to Crown issues. In King vs Richet a verdict of guilty for unlawful wounding with intent led to six months’ suspension and a bound-over term. Campbell and Couturier were acquitted of shop breaking and theft from Hudson's Bay Co. at Pas with witnesses and a jury verdict of not guilty after deliberation. The Masonic Temple hosted an unveiling ceremony for Vermillion Lodge memorials with Dr. A. B. Baird, Rev. J. A. Haw, and others in attendance, followed by prayers, readings, and a recessional. A large snowstorm did not stop the Short horn cattle sale at the Exhibition grounds, netting $10,250 with 43 animals sold. Mrs. G. J. C. Walker received a life membership in the Women’s Auxiliary amid a ceremony with local civic leaders. An Alexandra Rebeka lodge anniversary is planned for April 6.
A Dauphin civic effort backs a new rink with a Board of Trade committee to secure a site and form a joint stock company for financing. Main hurdle is finding suitable property on high ground, away from flood risk, before plans proceed.
The Paper Masquerade Ball held at the town hall on Friday the 26th under Ladies Auxiliary G W V A raised about 170 for the society. Winners included Mise Kelly and Mr G Dunstan for Fancy, Olson for Artisement, Mrs Washbinder and Mr Washbinder for Patriotic, Miss Mathers for Floral, and Mrs Sher wood with Miss Holtham as Two little girls in blue.
Local Shorthorn breeders met at Municipal hall on Tuesday 30th to organize the Dauphin District Shorthorn club. J B Davidson spoke on the breed. Officers named include President Wm Blair and Sec treasurer W A Maynard. A Boys and Girls Calf club was proposed to follow with executive oversight.
The Ladies Auxiliary to the G. W. V. A. announces officers led by Hon. President Mrs. McKinstry and President Mrs. Munson. 1st Vice Mrs. G. Craig, 2nd Vice Mrs. F. W. Bumstead, Recording Secretary Mrs. H. Wilkins, Sec Treasurer Mrs. A. Knight. Executive include Mesdames Madill Scott Lines Turland Serase and ER. M. Mc Lean. Regular meeting set for Tuesday April 6 at 8 30 p m.
The regular monthly meeting of the Lieut. Stuart Widmeyer Chapter LODE was postponed from Wednesday to the following month due to Easter holidays.
Obituary notice for Richard Hughes aged 69 years 10 months and 2 days with reference to Dauphin and a March date.
