Agric Society Budget Approved by Town Council
The Dauphin Agricultural Society budget was read and approved. The council granted a hall holiday shift from Thursday to Friday afternoon during air week, accepted resignations, and voted to appoint KR. W. Dicks. The finance committee noted a possible school levy decrease and a slight rise in Municipal Commissioners levy. Public Works will buy 186 yards of gravel for gravelling from ath Ave bridge to Highway No. 6 near the roundhouse. By laws to sell lots 14 and 15, block 5 plan 243 to H Derick and lot 2 block 68 plan 359 to S P Waite passed.

A large field of seventeen entered the H N Macneili medal history speaking contest at Whitemore School. Ivy Whetter won first, Myrtle Smith second, and Steve Voychesin third as judges M Rixon Mrs D D McDonald and Father W J Holloway determined the placings. Ivy Whetter spoke on Sir Guy Carlton Myrtle Smith on La Verendrye and Steve Voychesin on the CPK.

Dauphin Girl Injured by Truck Saturday
Effie Robb of Dauphin was badly bruised and her bicycle smashed when a truck driven by John Bienzuck struck her at the Sud Avenue and Main Street intersection Saturday evening. The driver could not avoid the collision. she received bruises and cuts on her right arm and leg and was treated at the Hamilton Hotel by Dr. M Potoski. The injuries did not require hospital admission.

Lawn Bowling Club Tournament Concludes After Rain Delay
The lawn bowling club's tournament, delayed by wet weather from May 24, finished Friday. Jim Bladon's rink beat Dr Bottomsey's team in the final. Robi Bruce won the bowls set in the lucky draw. Both greens remain in fine condition and regular games resume.

Police Court finds Fred Churn of Sifton in unlawful possession
Charged as an alien with firearms possession, Fred Churn received a suspended sentence before Magistrate Thos Little on June 21. Reports say complaints alleged he frightened his young wife with a revolver, though investigators found the weapon unloaded.

Young pitcher Berbowy Leads Dauphin Past Grandview-Gilbert Plains
Wasyl Berbowy, 17, struck out 19 and allowed four hits as Dauphin beat Grandview-Gilbert Plains 8-2 on Monday. Dauphin scorers included McAuley with three and Heard, Slobodzian, Conton, Berbowy with one each. Batteries: Dauphin Berbowy McAuley.

Impressive Peonies Display at Dauphin Show and Sale
A successful peony show and sale took place in the Armoury Dauphin hosted by the Dauphin Horticultural Society. Visitors viewed floral displays from 3 to 6 pm while chief exhibitors included Mrs J R Gunne Mrs Geo Mackie Mrs E Widmeyer Mr D Pearson Mr J N McFadden and Mrs E Fox. A tea accompanied the display and proceeds fund the annual fall garden show.

Claude Williams Dies After Illness at 34
Claude Williams aged 34 died after an operation at Dauphin General Hospital. Born in Millwood he spent youth in Russell before enlisting in the 107th Battalion and serving in France where he was gassed and shell shocked in 1917. He married Theresa Greffner in 1923 and moved to Dauphin in 1927. He leaves a wife two children two sisters two brothers and a widow in Winnipeg. His body was sent there for burial and funeral services were held at St John Cathedral.

Boy Scouts Athletic Meet Brings Home Top Honors
Howard Shumanski led with 110 points at the Exhibition Grounds on Saturday June 24 in the Scouts athletic meet. Sixteen Cubs and Scouts earned Athletic Medals across seven classes while Athletic Badges were awarded to numerous top finishers under Mr H N Macneill and district leadership.
