Local Interest Grows for Light Horse Show at Dauphin Fair

CPA resumes Dauphin landings after five day gap
Canadian Pacific Airlines restored twice daily landings at Dauphin municipal airport Monday after a five day stoppage caused by an unserviceable runway 02-200. CPA agent Harry Voth said no further interruptions expected as town crews and DOT discuss repairs while backfilled gravel fills the gaps.

Weekend weather brings warm sun and pleasant highs
The seven days show improved temperatures and sunshine from the prior week. Weekend highs reached 72 and 78 degrees with Monday at 61 and south winds up to 25 mph. A thunder shower Monday evening dropped total rain to .19 inches over three days.

Monday's Dauphin town meeting approved three by laws appointing a constable bees by law and sick leave with pay for town staff. The council discussed moving Canadian National Railways yards from Main Street to ease traffic, inviting Barker to meet with officials and possibly a board of transport commissioners. Neill joined the industrial development committee and purchase of items was authorized.

New Hospital At Ste. Rose du Lac Officially Opens July 4
A new 70 bed bungalow style hospital in Ste. Rose du Lac will officially open on July 4 with a 2 PM blessing by Archbishop Pocock and a public program. Hon. R. W Bend will attend alongside hospital officials, government representatives, and church dignitaries. After 3:30 PM the facility opens for inspection and tea, while a fund is set for public use. The old 40 bed hospital becomes a nurses home once patients move.

Former Local Cadet Wins Top Army Honor
A former Dauphin boy now in Brandon received the master cadet star as the top army cadet in the Manitoba Lakehead area. Nick Prokopchuk son of Mr and Mrs Mike Prokopchuk is cadet major. Born Arran Saskatchewan 1939 he moved to Dauphin in 1950 and attended Whitmore and Smith-Jackson schools. He excelled in academics and sports and held patrol and student leadership roles. Dauphin Travellers mark 25 years of community service
The Dauphin Commercial Travellers association celebrates 25 years of independent activity in Dauphin. From 15 members to 77, the group funds playgrounds, hosts an annual ice carnival, and runs the Travellers parade. Founding tales note early meetings at Rogers Fruit and a shift from social to charitable aims, with thousands donated to hospitals and welfare.
